Funny Email

posted by stevesbets

Yesterday I got this email:

Your parents must be real proud of ya!

A nice jewish boy grows up to be an online flea hoping to be one of the .5 % that actually makes it at poker.

VERY SAD SON!

This email is pretty dumb for a whole host of reasons but I”m only going to point out one. I don’t hope to be one of the .5%, I am one of the .5%. Just because the writer of this email is not he feels the need to project his crap on everyone else, I think that is what’s pretty sad. With all that said, I don’t want to play poker forever as my sole profession. I think it’s weird that many people today consider what construct their identity around what they choose to do professionally at the age of 22 as opposed to who they are. I think you become a person first and then you can figure out what you “grow up to be”. Anyway, I appreciate the email.

I like “a nice jewish boy”. Does it mean, there was hope, because you were nice AND jewish (but then you busted)? Or is it more the anti-Semitic approach, in the sense of: of course you busted, because already as a boy, you were maybe nice, BUT jewish? If he doesn’t like jews, why is he so outraged that you don’t fullfill his human quality demands?
    Anyway, I appreciate your blog.

This e-mail sounds definitely like some stressed person who has lost significant amount of money online
maybe against u? Well the thing is people are really envious of others living their dream life and
playing poker like a winner. Its sad that their anger and frustration leads to others changing their
decision. Obviously your decision is already made you are already a great player but the sender isn’t
maybe you should offer him a coaching lesson. O wait he can’t afford it!oops
