JD MBA

posted by stevesbets

As my more experienced readers know, I have been in the Fordham MBA program for the last year and applied to get my JD along with it.  Just today I found out I was admitted to Fordham Law school so I will be doing the joint program over the next 3-4 years.  I’ll blog more about my start of law school when I have more info.

Mailbag

posted by stevesbets

The admin of my blog and I have enjoyed the emails I receive from readers around the world since the inception of this website. As an avid follower of Bill Simmons on www.espn.com, I have recently realized that I should follow his mailbag tradition as I have been selfish for not sharing these emails, and responses with the world. I have rarely responded to emails for privacy reasons, but now with the mailbag feature, send away, and there is a very good chance that your email can be highlighted on Stevesbets’ Mailbag.

From Shawn:

This is kinda weird to ask since you don’t know me but this is one of the poker blogs I read and saw your recent post on jeans. I typically wear cheap jeans from old navy and am sick of them and had been thinking about buying nicer jeans from now on for a while. I could go to banana republic or a similar place but am curious where you get your jeans? I agree that designer jeans are not a ridiculous purchase. Even if they were expensive I’d still prefer plain jeans without any showy designs on them. Thanks for any help.

Shawn, this is the most practical email I’ve ever received. I think it is difficult to advise you on jeans without knowing your body type as fit is the number 1 criteria for selection. I am tall and thin and I find that Rock and Republic fit me the best. If you are similar, they currently have a “recession collection” where pairs can be had for as low as $100 and they are very simple cuts and colors which seems to fit your taste. If you wish to try on a bunch of different brands, I recommend a department store like Nordstrom. I used to die in those places when I was little while my mother and sister shopped for who knows what but now I enjoy going in because I can just browse through the jeans. Hope this helps.

From Luke:
Yo stevesbets.
Just curious, what high school did you go to? I grew up in Lower Merion and went to LMHS. Based on you saying how your HS had smarter people than UPENN, I’m going to guess FCS?

Hey Luke, I don’t know if this is a joke or not, but I did in fact go to Friends’ Central. I lived pretty close to LMHS growing up, we were probably neighbors

I created a new account with the data from my dad all right. You keep all your games in HeadsUP at Pokerstars. I saw your picture and tried your blog on google. I wonder if you would help me with some”charity’’so I can return to play with real money.

Deviated septum correction

posted by stevesbets

For as long as I can remember my nose hasn’t functioned properly. I generally could not breathe through it ever and it was becoming quite an impediment to life. Before I went to Vegas I saw an ENT Doctor who in his mind definitively identified the cause of all or most of my problems as being a severely deviated septum. This most likely occurred over the course of a childhood playing basketball and hitting my nose alot. I had resolved to do whatever necessary to get it fixed so I went in for a septoplasty last Tuesday.

I will blog more in detail about it later if my readers care to hear, but at this point I still cant breathe through my nose or do pretty much anything but sit around my apartment so it’s not too pleasant. Hopefully I will be out and about in a week or two but for now I look a bit like Frankensteins monster and am forbidden from doing just about everything :(
